Back on September 13th, just 2 months after moving to the Roger's Park neighborhood, I found myself on the red carpet at the world premiere of the feature film Critical Nexus. To top it off, it's just 3 blocks away from my apartment! One might say that it was meant to be, haha.
On top of that, I had the opportunity to make a new trailer promoting the movie being released on DVD, streaming, and on-demand (VOD). The purpose of a trailer in this setting is anything that'll grab people's attention, so I went for it. Let me know what you think!
This was a really fun trailer to make. (Shameless promotion time) If the trailer sparked your interest you can order Critical Nexus on iTunes, get the DVD on Amazon, or even stream on Amazon!
I've worked a little bit with Director Tirf Alexius and Producer Remoh Romeo while editing recap videos of their promo nights for the film. It really has been a great experience and I'm so thankful for the chance to step up and edit a trailer for them! It's amazing to think what can happen at parties, you start by supporting a friend, then you end up on a red carpet a few months later! I wrote a blog about it a couple months ago!
The red carpet was a great time, they had a backdrop set up to take pics, a host interviewing people as they came in while a small crew filmed it all. Everyone came out dressed up, and the after party was great! I really was fortunate to hop onto this project at the very end of the film's life cycle and got to witness and experience a little bit of the payoff.
The movie itself was really well done, a lot of the shots looked great, and overall the performances were solid. It's been a while since I've seen any movie on opening night, there really isn't anything quite like the shared experience of a packed theater. Everyone laughing together at the jokes, getting tense when drama rises, and applauding as the credits roll.
Even the theater's bar got in on the action and had a Critical Nexus themed cocktail. I don't remember exactly what was in it, but I do remember it was delicious!
Finally, don't think I had all this fun without being put to work. Remember the aforementioned camera crew at the red carpet? Guess who was tasked to edit a 0:30 recap/promo video featuring the footage from the premiere! Watch below!
